Research Lab

Frasson Group’s research lab is involved in developing new compound, but it is very important for a continuous follow up and quality control of product. The most important instruments and tests used for a complete quality control of the production and during the product’s developing fases are:

Dynamometer

Daily used for materials quality control, as well as for research and development on new materials.

It measures the tensile strength (ISO 37), the elongation at break (ISO 37) and the tear resistance (ISO 34-1) of materials (mainly rubber and polyurethane). It is used to carry out adhesion tests between layers (ISO 20344), in order to keep the performance of treatments and bonding under control.

Abrasion tester

Instrument that allows to measure the abrasion resistance of materials. Mainly used for quality control of rubber compounds; also for soles testing to guarantee consistency and quality (according to ISO 4649).

Durometer

Instrument used to measure the hardness of materials (according to ISO 868)

Flexometer

Instrument used to test the resistance to repeated flexing of the soles (according to ISO 17707).

Rheometer

One of the most important instrument for the rubber compound department. It allows to test the quality of the compound before going into production, by measuring the progress of the vulcanization process. In addition, it can be used for quality control of each batch of rubber, it is very useful for the research and development of new compounds.

Climatic Chamber

Used for aging tests on materials and glues under certain conditions of time, temperature and humidity. With this test it can be monitored the performance of the glues and materials of our productions on a weekly basis.

Heat insulation tester

Instrument that involves a sand bath at certain time and temperature conditions (according to ISO 15090).

It can be used as a service to the customer who  wants to test the thermal insulation of the complete shoe, or as control, research and development on our materials and glues, tested at high temperatures.
